Province Accused Of Bargaining In Bad Faith

A complaint has been filed against the provincial government under the Public Service Labour Relations Act by the union representing jail guards, correctional workers, Human Services Counsellors and Housing employees.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees is accusing the province of bargaining in bad faith over whether casuals with under 6 months of service would be defined as the other employees and, as such, have the same rights.

CUPE says negotiators for the province tried to exclude casuals with under six months on the job from the contract but the union never agreed to that..
