Putting Canadian Clichés To The Test, Eh?

There’s no shortage of clichés about Canadians as we celebrate Canada Day. We have been stereotyped as people who are obsessed with hockey, live in igloos and see beavers and bears on a regular basis.

1000 Canadians took part in a survey by Historica Canada.

Andrea Hall is the communications coordinator, she says the survey found the most Canadian piece of clothing was the toque, which was a pretty obvious choice for most Canadians.

The survey also found only 16% of Canadians have been in an igloo, but a surprising 64% of Canadians have seen a wild beaver.
