There has been an alarming increase in strokes among people in their 50’s with a 24 per cent rise in the past decade and it’s predicted stroke rates among younger people will double over the next 15 years.
Care is getting better with the death rates from strokes and cardiovascular disease declining by more than 75 per cent over the past sixty years and nearly 40 per cent in the last decade.
Some one suffers a stroke somewhere in the country every 10 minutes and this costs the economy 3.6 billion dollars a year.
