Business Owners Say They Have A Hard Time Filling Open Positions

There’s a disconnect somewhere between the skills employers are looking for and the skills job applicants have.

Despite high unemployment rates, 87-percent of employers surveyed in a recent Express Employment study said it was difficult to fill jobs, citing a lack of available applicants as the number one reason.

Express Employment CEO Bob Funk says it’s encouraging to see more of a focus on the skilled trades and education to address the skills gap.

Canada lost 9400 jobs last month moving the unemployment rate up to 7.1-percent.
