New Brunswick Loses Jobs

Employment increased last month across the country by 77 thousand compared to the same time last year. Despite that, the unemployment rate rose slightly to 7 per cent because more people were out looking for jobs. All of the employment gains in August were with part time jobs.

Employment in New Brunswick went down by 3 thousand last month with the unemployment rate at 9.4%. There has been no change in the employment numbers over the last year in New Brunswick.

The unemployment rate in Saint John rose to 7.7 percent from 7.3 but in Moncton, there was a decline from 7.7 to 7.2 percent.
