One Family’s Journey From Mental Illness to Wellness

Imagine your teenage daughter taking150 Advil, cutting herself and researching suicide online while stockpiling blades.

This nightmare was reality for one family who also struggled to find their daughter some help with many doctors, psychiatrists, social workers and others involved in the process.

Stephanie Chaisson is a teacher at Rothesay High and she tells us they would often have to tell her story all over again with each new health professional which upset her daughter–Katelyn.

She says in her most difficult moments the last thing she wanted to do was start over from the beginning with a complete stranger.

Chaisson spoke of finding help and support when she would reach out to Mobile Mental Health.

Katelyn is now 19, in her third year at Dal and works at a mental health advocate.
