Mounties Investigating More Than 80 Suspicious Fires In Southeast NB

Since September 2014, the Southeast District RCMP have investigated more than 80 suspicious fires in several communities served by the Richibucto, Bouctouche and Elsipogtog detachments

Police say all of the fires have been determined to be deliberately set.

About half of them have targeted abandoned homes, cottages, trailers and vehicles at night.

The remainder have involved other buildings which were not occupied at the time of the fires.

No injuries have been reported.

Richibucto RCMP Sergeant Patrick Tardif says they are looking at the fires both individually and as a whole while considering all possibilities.

If anyone has information about any of the suspicious fires, you are urged to contact RCMP at 1-888-506-RCMP (7267) or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), texting TIP212 + your message to ‘CRIMES’ (274637), or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
