Monday Morning Sports For October 24th

Saint John hosted Hometown Hockey over the weekend which culminated in the broadcast of last night’s game between Vancouver and Anaheim on Long Wharf. Anaheim won 4-2….The Rangers got by Arizona 3-2….The Islanders beat Minnesota 6-3 and Edmonton shut out Winnipeg 3-0 in the Heritage Classic. The game played outside was delayed because of too much sun.

In Major Midget Hockey, Fredericton downed the Saint John Vitos 3-2.

In the NFL, Tom Brady threw for more than 200 yards and 2 touchdowns as New England improves to 6 and 1 with a 27-16 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers who were without quarterback Ben Roethlisberger….Minnesota lost for the first time this season, 21-10 to Philadlephia…..Oakland moved into first place in the AFC West with a record of 5 and 2 after defeating Jacksonville 33-16. Last night, Seattle and Arizona wound up in a 6-6 tie. Elsewhere, it wasKansas City 27 New Orleans 21….NY Giants 17 Los Angeles 10……Indianapolis 34 Tennessee 26…..Cincinnati 31 Cleveland 17…..Detroit 20 Washington 17….Miami 28 Buffalo 25…..NY Jets 24 Baltimore 16….Tampa Bay 34 San Francisco 17 and San Diego 33 Atlanta 30 (OT).

In the Atlantic Football League, it was U-N-B Fredericton over U-N-B Saint John 20-5.
