Safe Harbour Will Reopen In March Of Next Year

There is new life for Saint John’s only shelter for homeless youth shuttered less than a year after opening.

Safe Harbour Transitional Housing closed back in January due to financial difficulties.

Partners for Youth with support from the provincial government and other partners is taking on Safe Harbour and it will reopen on March 1, 2017.

John Sharpe is the CEO of Partners for Youth and he says the ultimate goal is to build something truly exceptional and effective.

The closure of Safe Harbour left homeless, vulnerable youth living on the streets or in otherwise unsafe situations while trying to get their lives on track.

Children and Youth Minister Stephen Horsman says working with Partners for Youth will provide high level services and a long term approach to supporting homeless youth as they move into safe and supportive housing.
