Moncton Nurse Fired For Allegedly Inappropriately Inducing Labour

A registered labour and delivery nurse at the Moncton Hospital has been fired as part of a RCMP investigation.

Strong evidence suggested the former employee had inappropriately administered a drug called Oxytocin.

Horizon Health says the labour-inducing drug was administered without consent and caused two patients to require an urgent C-section.

In a statement, Moncton City Hospital chief of staff Dr. Ken Gillespie says the families have been notified and that both mothers and babies are doing well.

Horizon says they felt it was important to disclose this information, however they will not be offering further comment as the investigation is ongoing.
