Two Areas Still Above Flood Stage

Water levels continue to fall in the Saint John River basin after this spring’s flooding.

Numbers from the province show only two areas now remain above flood stage as of Monday.

Sheffield-Lakeville Corner is expected to fall below flood stage by Wednesday while Jemseg be below flood level by Saturday. The Saint John area fell below flood stage on the weekend.

Several roads remain closed due to flooding and the province is asking for patience as crews inspect them to ensure they still safe.

As residents return to their homes, the province is reminding them to report any damages they received.

They will then receive a disaster financial assistance application package and a visit from a health and safety inspection team.

The teams will determine if homes and businesses are safe enough for residents or owners to remain or return.

On Monday, teams spent the day in the Quispamsis, Rothesay, Kingston, Hampton and Maugerville areas.
