Jane Philpott To Run As Independent In October Election

A former Trudeau government cabinet minister who resigned and was then kicked out of the Liberal caucus for speaking her mind on the SNC Lavalin matter is running as an independent in the fall federal election.

Jane Philpott says she made the decision to go it alone after hearing from people who applauded her actions.

“It’s for those young girls that I want to say there is a future, don’t ever be afraid to speak the truth, don’t ever be afraid to stand up for what’s right,” stated Philpott.

The now independent MP said Ottawa needs to change.

” We want to solve problems across election cycles so we don’t have one party bringing in a whole range of initiatives and as soon as the election is over the next guys tear it all down and start with another whole range and waste a lot of time and money in the process,” stated Philpott.

There had been speculation that Philpott might have been running under the Green Party banner, but that was not the case when she made her announcement in her riding of Markham-Stouffville.
