The Saint John Y is encouraging a love of outdoor activities in a beautiful spot on the east side.
Healthy Kids Day at the Glenn Carpenter Centre is a free activity on Saturday.
Saint John YMCA President Shilo Boucher says activities include hiking, swimming and canoeing.
“Crafts, face-painting, field games and pretty much anything you can think of for the outdoors. We are also going to have some healthy snacks to promote nutrition.”
Because of a new addition at the centre they want people to see, the event was moved.
“In the past, we’ve had it at the Regional Y and because of numbers and we know it’s going to be a great day, we actually have a new picnic shelter at the Glenn Carpenter Centre that we want to show we decided we’re going to host everybody there.”

Saint John Mayor Don Darling, Saint John-Rothesay MP Wayne Long and Common Councillor Greg Norton will take part in a dunk tank raising money for the Y’s Strong Communities Campaign.
The events run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Transportation is being provided through a shuttle service to the Glenn Carpenter Centre from the Y in the north end and from Kings Square.
