A man has been arrested for impaired driving after a school bus went off the road in Chipman.
RCMP say they were called to the scene on Lilloett Drive shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday.
“When members arrived on scene, the school bus was being towed out [of the ditch],” said Cpl. Jullie Rogers-Marsh, media relations officer for the New Brunswick RCMP.
The driver was the only person on board at the time and no one was hurt, Rogers-Marsh said.
“A short time later, a 63-year-old man from Chipman was arrested at a residence on Maple Avenue in Chipman,” she said.

The man was later released on a promise to appear in court in September. His driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days.
The Anglophone West School District confirmed one of its school buses left the road in the Chipman area on Wednesday.
“We cannot speak to specific cases involving individuals due to privacy,” said spokesperson Judy Cole. “We can say disciplinary action or termination would occur for any bus driver found driving while impaired.”
Cole said the school district has launched its own investigation into the incident.
