Moncton Man Arrested After Explosive Device Seized

A Moncton man has been arrested following the search of a home for a suspicious package on Thursday.

Around 11:30 a.m., the Canada Border Services Agency called in Codiac RCMP and the RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit along with the Moncton Fire Department to help search a home on Lee Drive, off Elmwood Drive, in Moncton.

Officials discovered what appeared to be an explosive device.

Nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution but were allowed to return home around 5:30 Thursday afternoon.

The device was safely removed and disposed of. No one was hurt.

A 34-year-old man has been released on conditions pending a court appearance on October 22nd.
