Injured Hiker Rescued Near Mispec Beach

An injured hiker had to be rescued by Saint John fire crews near Mispec Beach over the weekend.

Platoon Chief Michael Carr said they were called to a trail on Red Head Road around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Carr said paramedics told them the hiker needed to be extricated due to their injuries.

“After the patient was stabilized on scene by paramedics, fire crews carried the patient using a rescue stretcher along the trail to the awaiting ambulance,” said Carr.

Carr said the hiker was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No other details about their condition have been released.

Fire crews were on scene for about an hour, Carr said.
