Man Allegedly Hit Girlfriend With A Cane: Police

Saint John police say an elderly man is facing charges after an alleged assault in the uptown area.

Sgt. Ron Cooper said the incident happened on Brunswick Drive around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Cooper said a 67-year-old man allegedly struck his 60-year-old girlfriend with his cane.

He said a man was arrested and later released on a promise to appear in court.

Cooper said the man is facing a charge of assault with a weapon.
