Students Take Part In Global Climate Strike

Dozens of high school students spent part of their day Friday protesting outside City Hall in Saint John.

It was part of the Global Climate Strike, which took place in communities around the world.

The students held signs and chanted slogans like “Stop Denying, Our Planet Is Dying.”

A recent report from a UN climate change panel says the planet needs to make “unprecedented changes” by 2030 to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

The strikes took place ahead of the UN Climate Action Summit in New York on Monday.

More protests are planned for next Friday.
