Saint John Man Creates Nature App

A Saint John man is using technology to try and get more people out into nature.

Kirk Leary has spent the past few years developing a free app called GoCapture.

“What we’re trying to do is basically showcase what New Brunswick has to offer to people and do that through technology,” said Leary.

Leary said he was frustrated having so many places around us and not knowing how to get to them.

Users can upload pictures of their favourite waterfalls and caves with GPS coordinates so others will know how to get there.

“Technology has this blanket around us where we’re swarmed in by social media and everything, but this just gets us out into nature and gets people enjoying it,” Leary said. “You can even meet other people, too, that are adventure seekers.”

Leary said he hopes to one day expand the app across Canada and add in beaches and historical sites.

GoCapture is free to download in the Apple App Store and on Google Play.
