Former NHL player and hockey coach Danny Grant died on Monday after a battle with cancer.
Grant, 73, was born in Fredericton and made his debut with the Montreal Canadiens in 1966. He also played for the Minnesota North Stars, the Detroit Red Wings, and the L.A. Kings.
He helped the Canadiens to a Stanley Cup victory in 1968, and received the Calder Trophy as the top rookie in the NHL that year.

Grant then went on to coach both the UNB and St. Thomas University hockey teams, and Q League team the Halifax Mooseheads.
The Grant-Harvey arena in Fredericton is named after him, and fellow Frederictonian Fred Harvey.
