RCMP Warn Of Legit Sounding Scams

A number of scams are circulating throughout New Brunswick and the RCMP issuing a reminder for everyone to be vigilant.

Police legitimate names like the RCMP, Canada Revenue Agency, and Microsoft are being sued by scammers to lure would-be victims.

You should never provide personal or financial information to anyone over the phone or online.

RCMP say no government agency or legitimate business would threaten clients, ask for a SIN number or suggest fines be paid with gift cards or cryptocurrency.

Get in touch with the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre if a suspected scammer has contacted you.

Call the police if you’ve paid money or used pre-paid credit cards, gift cards or bitcoin.
