What’s Open And Closed On Remembrance Day

A number of things will be closed today as New Brunswickers take the day off to observe Remembrance Day.

Expect a number of stores and businesses to be closed, including grocery stores, liquor stores, and malls.

The City Market will also be closed, as will all municipal offices.

Canada Post will also not be delivering mail.

Saint John Transit will follow its Sunday/Holiday schedule Monday. There will be no Comex service.

Garbage and compost collection follows its regular schedule.

Hours for community centres and arenas may vary.

If you’re unsure if something is open, it’s best to call ahead.

Services And Ceremonies

A number of Remembrance Day services will be held across the city, with the main one taking place at TD Station.

Doors open at 9 a.m. with the ceremony beginning around 10:30 a.m. Free parking will be offered at the Peel Plaza Garage, as well as on street and in city lots on the South Central Peninsula Monday.

In addition to the music, prayers, and hymns, there will also be the traditional two-minutes of silence followed by the laying of official wreaths.

All other wreaths from businesses organizations, associations, and individuals are requested to be laid at the main Cenotaph in King’s Square following the main service and parade.

There will also be a service in Quispamsis at the qplex, starting at 10:30 a.m.
