Several In Court For ‘Serious Crime’ Incidents

Court appearances are expected Tuesday in relation to what police are calling a “serious crime investigation.”

Around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a shooting on Duke Street West. Police say the male victim remains in critical condition at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on the west side late Monday evening and faces a charge of attempted murder.

In connection with the investigation, shortly before 3 p.m. Monday, officers witnessed gunfire between the occupants of two vehicles. Two men and one woman were arrested.

The incident led to a “hold and secure” at Princess Elizabeth School and a lockdown at a nearby daycare and Rocmaura Nursing Home.

Police say their investigation led to a barricaded suspect at a home on Anglin Drive shortly before 5 p.m. Monday.

Through negotiations, a 36-year-old man was taken into custody just before 10 p.m. No word yet on what charges he may face.

A residence on Parks Street Extension was also the scene of a tactical operation as part of this investigation.
