Two Injured In West Side Shooting

Saint John police say two people have been taken to hospital after a shooting on the west side.

Police said they received a report of shots fired in the area of Market Place around 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Spokesperson Jim Hennessy says two men, aged 30 and 34, arrived at the Saint John Regional Hospital at 9:30 p.m. with gunshot wounds.

“Horizon staff notified Saint John Police and the Major Crime Unit is now conducting a criminal investigation into the incident,” said Hennessy in a news release.

Hennessy said it does not appear the shooting was a random act.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Saint John police at 648-3333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
