Man Arrested Following Attempted Robbery

Police say one person has been arrested after an attempted robbery at a business in west Saint John.

In a news release, police said they were called to a business on Lancaster Avenue just after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

“One man had been in the building and grabbed a large amount of cash before running out and dropped a weapon as he fled,” said police in the news release.

Diesel the police dog tracked down the suspect, who was hiding in a nearby dumpster, said police.

A man in his 30s is facing several “probable” charges, including attempted robbery, theft, and possession of a weapon.

“There were no injuries during this incident,” said police.
