Charges Laid In Connection To Hillsborough Homicide

A 49-year-old-man from Hillsborough has been charged with first-degree murder.

On Saturday morning, Southeast District RCMP received a report of a woman possibly being deceased at a residence on Main Street.

When police arrived, they discovered the body of a 43-year-old woman from Hillsborough.

Shortly after, police arrested a man driving in a vehicle a few kilometres away from the scene and he was brought into custody.

Police say both the suspect and victim were living together.

Calvin Andrew Lewis is being charged with first-degree murder in the death of Tina Tingley-McAleer.

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on May 4, at 1:30 p.m.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed to assist in determining the exact cause of death.
