Weight Restrictions Will Soon Be Lifted

Spring weight restrictions will start being lifted from New Brunswick highways this weekend.

The restrictions will be removed on May 10 in southern New Brunswick and May 17 in the north.

Usually, the restrictions are in effect until closer to the end of May.

“Thanks to milder temperatures, we were able to remove these restrictions a week earlier than anticipated,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Oliver in a release.

Some secondary roads will remain restricted or closed to trucks until the road conditions improve, said Oliver.

Weight restrictions are imposed each year to help protect highways from damage during the spring thaw.
