Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department responded to a call early Wednesday morning.
A resident woke up to get ready for work and discovered a fire in the basement.
Firefighters arrived on scene near 2700 Rothesay Road to find smoke coming from the home.
The firefighters were able to put out the fire before it spread from the basement but the home did sustain smoke and heat damage.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
