Firearms Incident Still Under Investigation

Police continue to investigate a firearms-related incident in the north end of Saint John which led to a heavy police presence.

Officers were called to the area of Main and Kennedy streets shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a person with a firearm.

Four people were taken into custody, but spokesperson Jim Hennessy said Thursday they have since been released.

“The Major Crime Unit continues to investigate the incident,” said Hennessy in a news release.

More than a dozen police officers responded to the call, including the force’s Canine Unit. Only a handful of officers remained at the scene about an hour later.

No word if any shots were fired or if anyone was hurt during the incident.
