The Green party of New Brunswick would ensure artists and cultural entrepreneurs are not an economic afterthought during the pandemic and after it ends.
Outside the Memramcook Institute on Friday, Leader David Coon said they are an essential part of the Green party’s plan.
“We will create a department dedicated to arts, heritage and culture,” Coon said.
Coon said a Green government would maintain the Memramcook Institute as a provincial and historical asset and fund it for the community and all Acadians.
Coon said they will bring in legislation to create the professional designation of the artist.
“We will keep provincial parks in public hands such as Murray Beach in this riding,” Coon said.

Memramcook-Tantramar Green candidate Megan Mitton said previous governments cut tourist bureaus.
Mitton says the former tourist bureaus at Cape Jourimain and Au Lac are pathways into our province from Nova Scotia and PEI which drew many visitors.
“Our arts and culture are very important for our communities. As David spoke about earlier, our natural assets and our arts and culture are really big draws for our tourism industry,” Mitton said.
Mitton said losing those two tourist bureaus impacts those industries and tourists coming into the province.
