Car Crashes Into River In Northern N.B.

A 71-year-old man is dead following a single-vehicle crash in northern New Brunswick.

RCMP say a submerged vehicle was found in the Gounamitz River near Kedgwick on Sunday afternoon.

The man was found in the water nearby.

Police believe the incident would have happened sometime between 10 p.m. on October 24 and 1 p.m. on October 25. They suspect the driver may have attempted to turn around on the road, but became stuck and was unable to negotiate a slope that led to the water.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine the man’s exact cause of death.
