KV Firefighters Respond To Four Fires Since Last Sunday

You can’t blame firefighters from the Kennebecasis Valley for being a little tuckered out.

Firefighters in the valley responded to four different fires between October 25th and early Monday morning.

The most recent fires were a little more than twelve hours apart with one blaze on Roberts Lane in Quispamsis around 3 p.m. on Sunday and another Monday morning around 6:30 a.m.

The latest was a shed fire on Rosedale Avenue near Cochran’s Country Market. The shed was located near a house and some window blinds suffered heat damage.

Deputy fire Chief Dan McCoy says the family living at Roberts Lane where the fire occurred on Sunday were not home at the time and firefighters were able to save their dogs.

“They are staying with family and they are doing OK. The most important thing to them obviously was their pets and we were able to rescue the three dogs from inside the fire,” McCoy said.

McCoy said the fires on Roberts Lane and Rosedale Avenue are considered accidental.

A week ago Sunday, KV fire crews responded to a blaze on Rafferty Court and last Thursday to another fire on Hibbard Lane in Rothesay.

Volunteers from the Canadian Red Cross have been assisting some of the impacted families with emergency needs.

Division Chief Shawn White singled out the efforts on Twitter. White said he was proud to be part of the team, saying their firefighters exemplify bravery, compassion and professionalism every day.
