Nova Scotia RCMP have charged three people with providing ammunition to the man who killed 22 people during a shooting spree in April.
RCMP say they have been investigating those connected to the shooter over the past months and today announced the first charges laid in connection to the shooting.
Lisa Diane Banfield, identified as the shooter’s common-law spouse, along with James Blair Banfield and Brian Brewster of Sackville all face charges of unlawfully, transferring ammunition, specifically, .223 caliber Remington cartridges and .40 caliber Smith and Wesson cartridges, contrary to Section 101 of the Criminal Code.
The investigation also determined the ammunition was both trafficked and purchased in Nova Scotia.
The RCMP went on to specify that the three people they believe sold the ammunition are not believed to have known the shooter’s intent with the ammo.
It is believed that the shooter purchased the ammunition between the 17-18 of March, just a month prior to the date of the shooting which began on April 18.
As the public inquiry is still ongoing the RCMP said they will not be commenting further on the charges at this time.
