Teen Charged After COMPASS Staff Member Threatened

A youth is facing charges in connection with a “hold and secure” at an east Saint John educational facility.

Police say the teen, who has not been identified, is charged with uttering threats and failure to comply.

The youth is scheduled to appear in court in March.

The COMPASS Education Support Program was placed in “hold and secure” around mid-morning Friday when a teacher was threatened.

Officers responded to the scene to secure the building and ensure students and staff were safe.

Students were allowed to return home by mid-afternoon and no one was hurt.

Police say a teenager surrendered to officers on Monday.
