Federal Funding For Two Saint John Organizations

The federal government has announced a combined $300,000 for two Saint John organizations.

The Saint John Women’s Empowerment Network (SJWEN) and the Elizabeth Fry Society of Saint John will each get $150,000.

According to a news release, the funding will help both organizations increase their capacity to continue promoting gender equality initiatives in the community.

“Today’s investment will ensure that the Saint John Women’s Empowerment Network (SJWEN) and the Elizabeth Fry Society of Saint John NB Inc. continue to have the resources they need to support those who need it most,” Saint John-Rothesay MP Wayne Long said in a news release.

SJWEN will use the money to support advocacy for low-income women, to implement a trauma-informed framework, and develop new frameworks.

Meanwhile, the Elizabeth Fry Society will use the money to strengthen organizational governance, financial structure and sustainability.
