As more of us continue to get vaccinated against COVID-19, the travel industry is already ramping up with some services being restored in the near future such as regional air routes.
CAA Atlantic spokesperson Gary Howard says he would be in favour of proving you got a COVID shot with a document such as a vaccine passport for international travel.
“I think it will just make things a little bit easier because it will demonstrate that I do have a vaccine. Having it done by the government will say to another nation that this is real, they really do have the vaccine and it is safe to let them in,” he notes.
Howard believes such proof would make everyone feel safer and it would be one less thing to worry about when travelling abroad.
The Trudeau government has not yet been clear on its plans for vaccine certification.
However, the European Union has proposed the idea of vaccine passports and British Airways has announced it will be launching a digital version in May.
