UPDATE: High Winds Cause Scattered Power Outages

Monday’s strong winds have caused scattered power outages throughout the province.

Nearly 500 homes and businesses remain without power as of 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, with most of the outages in the Fredericton region.

Locally, there are 14 customers without power in the Charlotte Southwest region, which includes Bayside, Bocabec and Saint Andrews.

The utility’s outage map says most should have their power restored before noon Tuesday.

Environment Canada says wind gusts approached 90 kilometres per hour in parts of the province on Monday.

The wind is expected to become light Tuesday morning.
