Shooting On Listuguj First Nation Leaves Two Dead

Quebec’s police watchdog says two people have died after a weekend shooting on the Listuguj First Nation, near the New Brunswick border.

Officers from the Listuguj Police Department responded to a call of gunfire at a home in the community around 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

According to the Bureau of Independent Investigation, officers heard more gunshots a few minutes after arriving at the scene.

Quebec provincial police officers were called to the scene when a man inside the home refused to co-operate.

Investigators said a 28-year-old man eventually surrendered to police at 5:20 p.m. Saturday.

They said two people were found seriously injured inside the home and later died in the hospital.
