Several Local Councils Sworn In On Monday

Several communities in Greater Saint John have sworn in in their newly-elected councils.

A swearing-in ceremony for Rothesay council was held in front of town hall on Monday.

Mayor Nancy Grant was re-elected along with Deputy Mayor Matt Alexander and councillors Peter Lewis, Tiffany Mackay French, Bill McGuire and Don Shea.

They will be joined around the council table by new members Helen Boyle and Dave Brown.

In Hampton, Mayor Robert Doucet, who previously served as deputy mayor, was also sworn in on Monday.

Jeremy Salgado, a new face to council, was named deputy mayor. Also sworn in on council was new member Kim Tompkins, incumbent Todd Beach, and former mayor Ken Chorley.

Grand Bay-Westfield’s new mayor and council were also sworn in during a ceremony on Monday evening.

Brittany Merrifield was elected mayor by acclamation. She will be joined on council by incumbents Beverley Day and John Balemans, along with newcomers Erin Toole, Stephanie McIntosh Lawrence and Jim Balcomb.

Similar swearing-in ceremonies were also held Monday in Saint John and Quispamsis.
