N.B. Sees First Tornado Watch This Season

A tornado watch was issued Monday evening for part of northwestern New Brunswick — the first of the season in this province.

The alert was issued for Grand Falls and Victoria County around 8 p.m. Monday and lasted about an hour.

Environment Canada said thunderstorms moving into the region from Maine showed signs of rotation and had the potential of producing a tornado.

The same line of storms prompted a tornado warning in parts of Maine earlier in the evening.

There were no reports of any tornadoes touching down on either side of the border.
