Saint John Police Make Arrest In 2016 Homicide

Saint John police say a person has been arrested in relation to the 2016 death of Tammy Boratynec.

In a news release, police say the man was taken into custody Friday morning and remains behind bars.

The arrest comes nearly five years to the day after the death of Boratynec, which investigators have treated as a homicide.

On July 17, 2016, officers were called to a Melrose Street home on the city’s east side after a body was found in the backyard.

An autopsy completed two days later identified the victim as Boratynec, who was 43 years old.

Police say the man arrested Friday will remain in custody pending a court appearance scheduled for Monday.
