Horizon Warns Of Overcrowding At Saint John ER

The Horizon Health Network is warning of overcrowding in the emergency department at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

In a news release late Friday afternoon, Horizon said the ER is experiencing high patient volumes in addition to staffing challenges.

“Patients with non-urgent medical issues may experience long wait times if they present to the emergency department as we prioritize patients with medical emergencies,” said the release.

Horizon encourages people to visit sowhywait.ca to help choose the best option for their care.

That includes St. Joseph’s Hospital for urgent but non-life threatening care, Tele-Care 811, pharmacist, primary health care provider, after-hours clinic, virtual care, or the emergency department if it is an emergency.
