**Updated at 6:26 p.m. Thursday**

Power has been restored to most customers in Charlotte County after a transmission outage on Thursday.

A handful of customers were without power as of 6:20 p.m., according to NB Power’s website.

The utility first posted about the outage on its Twitter account at 11:40 a.m., saying that crews were investigating an outage in the St. George.

“I can confirm that this is a transmission outage and we are investigating the cause at this point,” Sheila Lagace, a spokesperson for NB Power, said in an email shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday.

At the peak, more than 5,600 homes and businesses were without power throughout Charlotte County.

The outages extended from Pocologan to Bocabec, including the St. George area, and also included Deer Island, Campobello Island, Grand Manan Island, and White Head Island.
