The provincial government has reached tentative agreements with two bargaining units represented by the New Brunswick Nurses Union.
This affects more than 6,000 registered nurses, nurse practitioners, managers and supervisors.
NBNU President Paula Doucet says they are pleased to have secured these tentative agreements, “There is still much that needs to be done to improve the working conditions for registered nurses and nurse practitioners and to improve overall health care in our province.”
She agrees this is a step in the right direction, but feels they must continue to move forward and focus on improving health care so all New Brunswickers can receive the quality care they deserve.
The two units are employees working in hospitals, public and community health programs, Ambulance NB and with extra-mural programs.
Premier Blaine Higgs thanked the union for coming to the table in a spirit of respect and collaboration, “We look forward to continuing to work together on our common goal of stabilizing our health-care system and improving it to ensure it is sustainable for the future.”
No further details of the agreements will be released until they have been ratified.
