Driver Injured In Welsford-Area Crash

One person was injured after a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a pick-up truck on Route 7 north of Welsford.

Emergency crews were called to the scene near kilometre marker 58 just after 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

Both vehicles left the road with the semi-trailer lodged on its side near the trees.

Dave MacCready, chief of the Welsford Volunteer Fire Department, said the driver of the pick-up truck had to be freed using the Jaws of Life.

MacCready said the pick-up truck driver was taken to the hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries while the transport truck driver was not hurt.

The northbound lane of the highway was closed for a period of time.
