Pre-Trial Hearing Scheduled In 2016 Homicide Case

A Saint John man charged in a 2016 homicide case is due back in court later this month.

The case involving Mark Andrew Carty was on the Court of Queen’s Bench docket on Tuesday.

Carty was arrested and charged in July with second-degree murder in the death of Tammy Boratynec.

The body of the 43-year-old woman was found in the backyard of a home on Melrose Street in east Saint John on July 17, 2016.

Court officials told our newsroom that a pre-trial hearing in the case has been set for Sept. 20.

Carty has been in custody since his arrest on July 2. During a court appearance in August, the matter was sent directly to the Court of Queen’s Bench.
