RCMP are investigating several catalytic converter thefts in Charlotte County.
The latest incident was reported in the town of Saint Andrews on Sept. 3.
Police say a town-owned vehicle parked at the water plant had the catalytic converter cut off and the fuel tank punctured, causing a gas spill.
It is believed the incident occurred sometime between 4 p.m. on Sept. 2 and 7 a.m. on Sept. 3.
Officers are also investigating two other catalytic converter thefts in Chamcook and Bayside on Aug. 26 and 30.
Sgt. Christoper Henderson said these recent thefts share some similarities and thieves appear to be targeting commercial pickup trucks.
“We are asking residents to be vigilant of suspicious activity in their area and to report it to their local police,” Henderson said in a news release.
“When possible, park your vehicle inside a locked building, or in a well-lit area to help deter these types of thefts.”
