Town Adds Indigenous Names To Street Signs

You may notice a few new signs as you drive past a couple of streets in the town of Grand Bay-Westfield.

New street signs Nerepis Road and Woolastook Drive have the traditional Indigenous spelling of the street names.

Officials in the town say the new signs are in addition to the English version of the street names.

Town council committed to installing the signs in June in an effort to further the cause of reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.

Residents living on Nerepis Road and Woolastook Drive will see their addresses stay the same.
