Samuel-de-Champlain School Closed Thursday

Students at Centre scolaire Samuel-de-Champlain in Millidgeville will have the day off Thursday.

Shortly before 6 a.m., the Francophone South School District announced that the school will be closed due to an “exceptional situation.”

It comes a day after the building was evacuated while Saint John police investigated a threat made against the school.

Police and school district officials began evacuating the K-12 school just after 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The other services housed in the building on Ragged Point Road were also evacuated.

Officers and staff canvassed the building, searching for any threat.

Police say they cleared the scene shortly after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
