A Saint John police officer is facing several charges including falsifying a police report.
The RCMP say it relates to the officer’s action during an investigation in April.
In May, New Brunswick RCMP got a complaint from Public Prosecutions asking for a review of Sgt. David Kimball’s actions.
Kimball was charged on Monday with falsifying a police report, obstruction of justice by providing a false report, and breach of trust in connection with the duties of his office.
He has a court date in December.

The Saint John Police Force responded with its own news release on the matter.
It said Sergeant Kimball was suspended with pay under provisions of the New Brunswick Police Act.
The release also said once the criminal court proceedings are finished, a Police Act investigation will follow.
“Public trust and confidence are paramount; the Saint John Police Force is committed to serving the citizens of Saint John with integrity and respect,” says Chief Robert Bruce. “Saint John Police officers are expected to hold themselves to a high moral and professional standard, remaining undeterred in the good work we do,” adds Chief Bruce.
Monday’s news release said the Saint John Police Force remains “confident in the judicial process and will provide an update to the public as we move forward”.
